Wayne A. Gilbert
Wayne A. Gilbert is a retired teacher and teacher of teachers. He has written three books of poems although he is known primarily at a dynamic spoke work artist and often performs with improvising musicians. Wayne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2005. As a Practitioner of Metaphor Medicine & Parkiejazz, he leads poetry workshops for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners, Wayne is a co-founder of Reconnect with Your Body, a dance program for people with and without Parkinson’s, sponsored by Art as Action Dance Company. He also con-founded Us-In-a-Box Theatre Workshop, a group of actors who write and produce original theatre pieces. Wayne received the 2018 Colorado Governor’s Creative Leadership Award.
