Craig Potts
Craig was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the summer of 2017 and in 2019 had deep brain stimulation surgery. Having been a computer programmer/analyst for 45 years Craig had always considered himself a left-brain, analytical thinker. He was surprised by his newfound love of art and poetry. Craig was an avid runner before Parkinson’s, having run the Boston Marathon 5 times. He was at the finish line in 2013, the year of the bombing, on the scene of the first explosion. Craig also put together a relay team in 2018 to run the Texas Independence Relay to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Though Parkinson’s took a toll on his running he never lost his spirit for adventure and in 2021 he hiked 318 miles solo on the Pacific Crest Trail.
