Closing the Lid
Despite plain sight, we may not see,
that wood lost, hidden in the trees.;
unless we log off from the need,
as what we saw seemed evergreen.
Disabled parking in the lot,
a free slot, their five minute shop.
An able body, cubicle –
‘the ladies’ full’, my accident.
The subway crowded, taken seats,
reserved, the courtesy of need,
a stare at floor and silent crowds,
stiff upper lip, while pack holds up.
So what you see, not what you get,
for mindset closes down the lid,
and fact is, back in grandma’s day.
no benefits of nanny state.
‘Disabled’? Unsure label used,
for life not summed by body flawed,
but what achieved in being me,
that complement, not object seen.
