Tokyo Nightscape
Several years ago, I participated in a challenge called 30 Direct Watercolors in 30 Days. Direct watercolor means painting with no pencil sketch. This always happened in June, and in June 2019, I went to my first WPC in Kyoto, Japan. I did an average of one direct watercolor a day while I was attending the WPC. The watercolor here was was inspired by a photograph I took in Tokyo. Note: I have not finalized cropping on image I sent you.
On my last night in Tokyo, I decided to try to find a Cat Café that I had visited earlier. It was dark, my phone ran out of its charge, and suddenly I was lost in the busy Shinjuku District at night. The story had a happy ending. I managed to summon up my courage and travel skills, and I asked a young woman to help me find my way back to my hotel. I took this picture on that adventure. It became the inspiration for this watercolor.
