To My Dad & Dreams

Auður wrote these poems when she was 14 years old, upon learning of her father’s PD diagnosis.

To My Dad

You told me

that you loved me

when I was little;

that you loved me

when I cried;

that you loved me

when I smiled;

that you love me

as I am.

Now I tell you

that I love you.

Dreams

One night

I had a dream;

A bad dream.

The dream was about my life.

My life without you.

A life like that was terrible;

A life like that was unbelievable.

One night

I had a dream;

A good dream.

The dream was about my life.

My life with you.

A life like that was wonderful;

A life like that was unbelievable.
