Centred

Waking, I grab the bedside rails

as shift my balance, pulling up,

and soon when piling draining board

I stack whilst judging midway point

of saucepans overlaying plates,

the drips to slope, but prevent crash.

Continuing throughout my day,

the scoop of spoon at rim of plate

to capture food and lift it clean;

rest garden fork beside wood bench,

through mindfulness I see my way

controlled by instinct, distance, mass.

Without the science scrutinised,

weight, length, factors not understood;

well-being, humours stabilised

the key to living realised.

Find strategies better to cope,

improve emotional response,

challenge distorted views of life,

behaviour centred, cognitive.

From dawning bars to night time frame

my daily round is rather square;

both Newton’s apple, Einstein’s thought,

bring influence to welfare sought.
