Before We Were Three / 2001

I remember reverence. I’ve licked the skin.

Did you taste salt? Did you think He was softened with oil?

I did taste oil. There was no oil.

Will you breathe? Will you dream with Him?

I also breathed

Him in with scents

of anise and licorice

root. I dream

the body

I love
