Venetia Bradfield

In a previous life Venetia Bradfield was a Montessori teacher, a graphic designer, an OB nurse, and a soccer player. Currently she is a writer, a PD advocate, and “Bubba” to eight delightful grandchildren. She lives near the Mission rose garden in Santa Barbara, California, where she enjoys Rock Steady boxing and long walks along Butterfly Beach.
Venetia created a website titled “Escape from the Parkinson’s Prison.” On the site she posts stories by people with Parkinson’s, and by PD caregivers, that are written following the classic structure of Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey. The first of the twelve stages of the Hero’s Journey is the “Original World,” – in which people write about their life before Parkinson’s – while the second stage is the “Call to Adventure,” where people write about the fateful day that they receive their diagnosis. You can read Venetia’s PD story on her website at www.escapefrompd.com/esc1-friends.
