Paqui Ruiz

Paqui Ruiz is a Spanish woman diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2012. She is an activist, artist, and writer. Through her work—such as the book “Viajando con Párkinson” and her role as ambassador for the Degén Foundation and the World Parkinson’s Congress 2026, she works to give visibility to women with Parkinson’s, a frequently invisible group. She also uses art and creativity as tools for coping and expression, transforming her experience with the disease into a form of communication and awareness. Her tone is usually direct, with touches of humor and sarcasm, and her central message is clear: living with Parkinson’s is not about giving up, but about learning to live differently.
