Matthew Sullivan

I was diagnosed in 2010 with PD at the age of 47.
Throughout my life I have had a passion for nature and wildlife. I was lucky enough to work in this branch of science for 30 years, after gaining my doctorate at Oxford University and working as a lecturer at a university in Manchester.
When my PD meant I had to stop working, I was interested in exploring my creative side. So, eight years ago I started to paint. I joined a local group with a brilliant teacher who helped me try several media. I then discovered abstract art. With this I found the freedom to express myself through colour, layering, use of texture and other techniques, taking inspiration from the natural world around me.
My PD continues, as does my abstract work, but being creative keeps my mind occupied as time passes.
