Karina Lomeli

Karina Lomelí Ramos was born on July 1, 1974, in Mexico City.
From an early age, she enjoyed painting; although she never formally studied art, painting was always present in her life as a hobby and a personal form of expression.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and holds a Master’s degree in Marketing. However, in 2013 her life took a significant turn when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
It was at that moment that she returned to painting—not only as a creative activity, but as a means of emotional expression, a space to release and transform the complex feelings that accompany the disease.
Through her work, she has sold several paintings and has collaborated on visual identity projects for The Quiver Org. She is also a member of the Parkinson’s Artist group, a community of artists living and creating with this condition.
Karina often says that the disease may one day prevent her from walking, but that worries her far less than the moment when she might no longer be able to paint, because for her, art is movement, voice, and life.
