John Lance Lundgren

For the past 4 years I have been painting abstracts. At the age of 69 I have had Parkinson’s for approximately 14 years. Collecting art and specifically abstract art has been a pursuit of mine dating back to my childhood growing up the son of a Mid Century Architect. One afternoon I was admiring a recent abstract acquisition when struck by the thought of attempting to create abstracts. Following the encouragement of my family and friends I have embraced my sudden and passionate desire to paint. Recently as an alumni I was honored to have Texas Tech University place two of my abstracts in the Rawls College of Business. Abstract painting has given me new direction, focus and fun in my senior years. My sister was an interior designer and artist and through her I became aware of The Quiver and the organizations focus on the creativity of Parkinson’s. After reading The Quiver site it was truly enlightening to learn the Parkinson’s can actually drive sudden creativity. This made sense of my sudden desire to actually create abstract art.
