Reconciliation

When discussing this piece, Thomas talks of cogwheels, the brain, and DBS. The piece began with a black box to represent the brain, which appeared ugly to her at first. Then she added gold foil flowers and realized these two elements could work together.

“I had this real sense that over here is the science and over here is the beauty of all my fun, beautiful (and including myself)… the humanity. And I realized I am now both, and by the end of it, I was able to see that as a new beauty.”
