Not Drowning But Fading
This is the first face WWS ever painted, the first in her Facing Parkinson’s series. Its inscrutable expression and indeterminate age and gender are deliberate. They echo the questions of identity faced by the newly diagnosed. She explains, “I think it’s an expression of the question, ‘Who am I now that I’m not who I was before?’”
