Frank Ormsby
Frank Ormsby is a northern Irish poet, educator, and editor. Over a period of 50 years has has published ten collections of poetry. From 1976 until his retirement in 2010, he was Head of English at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution. Ormsby was appointed as the Ireland Professor of Poetry in 2019. His honors include a Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award for Poetry from the University of St. Thomas at St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Cultural Traditions Award given in memory of John Hewitt. Ormsby was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2009. He lives in Belfast.
